Our History
In 1976, Walt Cleland formed and directed the Westwinds Community Band. Mr. Cleland formed this band to provide an avenue for adult musicians in Vancouver to come together in fellowship and play music. Mr. Cleland was replaced by Loren Hascall in 1984. Under Loren’s direction, the band performs locally a range of music styles from classical to contemporary. Our group evolved over the past 31 years to form today’s ensemble of 20 members and we maintain our motto that, “we enjoy having fun and playing band music…distinctly in that order.”
No auditions are necessary to join the Westwinds Community Band as we always welcome new members. If you would like to join the band, please attend one of our weekly rehearsals: Tuesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Cascade Middle School, 13900 NE 18th Street, Vancouver, Washington, 98684, or call Loren Hascall at 360-254-7055.
If you are interested in having the Westwinds Community Band perform at your event, please contact Loren Hascall at 360-254-7055.
The Westwinds Community Band is a community-based ensemble. It is incorporated as a non-profit organization under the laws of Washington State. Any contributions to this organization are tax-deductible under Section 501-c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
